Asana Project Management Detailed Documentation

The Asana Project Management Add-On helps you connect your Asana account to manage projects and tasks from within the platform.

Introduction

The Asana Project Management Add-On helps you connect your Asana account to manage projects and tasks from within the platform. By adding your Asana API key in the system settings, you can link your workspace and access your projects without switching between different apps. This makes project tracking easier and keeps everything in one place.

With this Add-On, you can create, assign, and follow tasks directly in Dash SaaS, and all changes will be updated in Asana. It helps teams stay organized by giving a clear view of project progress, deadlines, and responsibilities. Whether working on small tasks or big projects, this integration makes teamwork smoother and improves productivity.

How to use the Asana Project Management Add-On?

  • Once you install the Add-On, go to the sidebar and go to the Settings.
  • Find the Asana Project in it, and enter the Purchase Access Token.
  • To generate the Access Token, follow this link: https://app.asana.com/0/my-apps
  • After that, go to the Sidebar and find the Asana click on that you navigate on Manage Workspaces.

Manage Workspaces

  • On this page, you will get to see the list of WorkSpaces, including all the details like number, workspace ID, workspace name, and an action column from which you can easily view Projects, Users, and buttons for edit through which you can edit the workspace whenever you want.

Manage Users

  • If you click on workspaces action “Users” button you can see the list of users added in that particular workspace. To add a new user in this workspace, click on the “Create” button at the top of the Manage users page. Just enter the email ID and “add user” button click that user add in Users list.
  • The list page shows all Users with columns displaying Avatar, Name, Email, User ID and Type. You can use the Search buttons to find user information. In the Actions column, click on the “Delete” button and you can remove the user record.

Manage Projects

  • If you click on workspaces action “Projects” button you can see the number of Projects created in that particular workspace. To create a new project in this workspace, click on the “Create” button at the top of the Manage Projects page.
  • Enter the Project Name, Description, select Start Date and Due Date, Select the Project Owner from the dropdown is fetched from the workspace users module, select the Project Color from the dropdown, select the Default View from the dropdown, select the Privacy Setting and Public Project toggle button on/off and Archived toggle button manage on/off.
  • After reviewing the details, click the Create button to create the Project.
  • The list page shows all Projects with columns displaying Name, Start Date, Due Date, Status and Assign User. You can use the Search and Filters buttons to find Project information.

Project Details

  • Actions column, click on the “View” button and you can see the Project Details page in this page. In this you can see the Project Details Section in like Status, Start Date, Due Date, Description.
  • Project Overview section in which you can see the cards like numbers of Tasks, number of Completed tasks, number of Pending tasks, number of Overdue tasks, number of Days Left, number of Team Members assigned in project. And Overall Progress.
  • Below you can add the section click on this “Add Section” button. Just enter the Section Name and “Create” button click that Section add in the section card. You can edit and delete this section.
  • You can add Team Members in this project click on Add Member button on the Team members Card in you can see. Select the User from the dropdown is fetched from the workspace Users module. And click the add member button then a member is added in the project.
  • Also you can see the Tasks by Assignee card if the user was assigned tasks you can see.
  • And click on the top “View Tasks” button to see the number of tasks in this particular project.

Manage Tasks

  • Projects Actions column, click on the “Tasks” button and you can see the number of tasks in this particular project. To create a new task in this project, click on the “Create” button at the top of the tasks page.
  • Enter the Task Name, Description, Select the Assignee from the dropdown is fetched from the project in assign members. Select the Due Date, and select the Section from the dropdown that is fetched from the project sections. Click on the create button and add this task to your list.
  • The list page shows all Tasks with columns displaying Task Name, Assign Users, Due Date, Status and Section. You can use the Search and Filters buttons to find task information.
  • Actions column, click on this “Mark Completed” button task is completed. And clicking on the “Mark Uncompleted” button task is converted into the Pending And click on “Edit” button you can modify the task details, and click on the “Delete” button to remove the task record.
  • When you click on the “View” button, you can see the Task Details. Like Task name, Assignee user, Due Date, Status, Description.
  • Comments
    • Below you see the sections like Comments in this section you can add the new comment and below you can see these comments in how many added, you can see and delete the comment.
  • Files
    • Using the Files Section you can upload the files and give the file name. After adding the file you can see the below and you can show and delete the file.
  • Subtasks
    • In this section you can add subtask, new subtask add for the enter the subtask name, Assign the user, and select the due date. And click on plus button that subtask is added you can see that subtask in below of subtasks section.
    • You can click on the view button to see the subtask details and you can add comments, Files, and Subtask in this subtask.
    • Click on the “Complete” button that subtask is completed and after compiling add the Incomplete button this button click complied task is converted into pending. And click on the “Delete” button to remove that subtask.
  • At the top of the Tasks page, there are several buttons available. The first button is for the Task Board, here you can have a Kanban view of the tasks, listed according to their Sections. You can also drag & drop the tasks within different Sections easily. You can view the task details, add comments, files, and sub tasks easily. You can also edit or delete the task whenever you want.
  • After that, there is a button for Timeline through which you can see the timeline of the tasks.
  • At last, you can have a calendar view of the tasks so that you can track the start date and due date easily.
